Twelve Precepts of a Father's Calling

To My Children:

As your father, I hereby pledge to strive to become the first hero in your life. I will attempt this by ascribing to the following:

1. I will strive to be a spiritual leader in our home by teaching the Bible on a regular basis and making it fun for the whole family.
2. I will only watch appropriate entertainment that I would be proud to let you watch.
3. I will teach you the enjoyment of serving others by my personal service to others with a good attitude.
4. I will choose to love your mom more than I love myself - just as Christ loves me and gave Himself up for me.
5. I commit to work toward being a godly model of a dad and a husband as described in Ephesians.
6. I will admit when I am wrong and will ask for your forgiveness.
7. Even when I am exhausted, I will find the energy to spend time with you.
8. When we are talking, I will choose to look you in the eye and listen.
9. I will sacrifice to create an environment where you can succeed through clear communication, direction, and involvement.
10. I will share how God is working in my life, so you can learn from both my mistakes and corrections.
11. I commit to pray for your future and your future spouse.
12. I will attempt to create a home environment that is predictable and structured so you always feel secure and protected.

I am a father who wants to be relevant in your life…your true hero, your first hero. My goal is to reflect Jesus Christ, the Ultimate Hero!
