You Did It!
You helped stimulate hope to hundreds of single moms and their children!
As you know, preparing for a new school year can be costly. In our current, tight
economy with rising gas and food prices, this may be the most challenging time of our
generation…and it is especially challenging for single moms. However, many of you
continue to choose to be generous with your resources and/or "Economic Stimulus Check".
On Saturday, August 9th, God used those resources and blessed the single moms we serve with
the Back-To-School basics for their children.
A backpack filled with all the required supplies to start a school year off right, not only
relieved some of the financial burdens of these moms, but also some of the fear they have
been carrying. Many of our single moms are asking themselves, "Am I going to be able to make
it? Will I be able to keep food on the table or the electric bill up to date?"
Helping single moms in a time of need is both proactive and preventative. The majority of
the children we serve in our residential homes come from single parent homes. Therefore,
as we offer assistance to single moms through a variety of parenting resources and by
meeting the basic needs of their families through events like
Back-To-School, we are
providing them with the necessary parenting tools to raise their children in their homes
without the need for our residential program in the future. It is one of the greatest
things we can do for a single mom as a community of believers.
As single moms walked away from the Back-To-School event, they were reminded that they are
not alone. They experienced the true love of Christ because you chose to meet their needs
and stimulate hope in their lives.
In 2008, we will assist approximately 3,000 single parents and children. To those who put
your heart into action and made a difference in the life of a mom and her children, thank you.
We are honored to partner with you as we honor Christ by serving the needs of children and
families. For those of you who would like to join us in this effort,
