Holy Cow!
Blessings often come in unexpected ways. Earlier this year, Craig and Lisa Elmore donated beef to the residential homes at Sheridan House - not just a little beef, but an entire steer's worth of beef. Mr. and Mrs. Elmore are both regularly involved with the livestock auction at the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach. This year, they bought a steer that was raised by a high school student from DeSoto County and announced their plan to donate the meat to Sheridan House.
Two months later, we received over 700 pounds of beef to distribute among our four residential homes. This beef, which is farm-raised and government inspected, came at just the right time. Buying enough food to feed up to nine children in each home is a challenge; but having enough money to feed the children is an even greater challenge. As Sheridan House was in the midst of a financial cut back, God used special people like the Elmores to provide for the children in the residential program. Each residential home was provided with almost 200 pounds of beef. For the next several months, when the boys enjoy their mouth-watering hamburgers or when the girls sit down to a nice pot-roast, they will do so because of this special gift. A gift - that caused us all to say, "Holy cow! Look at what God provided!"
On behalf of everyone who has enjoyed the beef, we extend our heart-felt gratitude to Craig and Lisa Elmore.
