Since 1992, Sheridan House has partnered with local churches to serve single moms in need. We believe that single moms are this generation’s “widows and orphans.” Whether the need is spiritual, emotional or financial, we strive to help meet the individual single mom in her specific area of need.
In the effort to better meet needs, our Single Mom Ministry offers intensive group training in areas such as finances, parenting, resume preparation and interviewing skills, as well as meal planning on a budget and more. Our goal is that through this training we can help to equip these moms with the knowledge necessary for them to succeed in life. For those involved in this training, we offer several events, such as our Thanksgiving Blessing, Christmas Toy Shoppe and Back-to-school event, where we can offer assistance through some of the more difficult times of the year for a single mom. Rather than simply supplying a “hand out,” we strive to offer a “hand up.”
If you are a single mom in need of assistance, please contact us for more information and enrollment.
We’re now building Single Mom Triplexes. This will be a temporary housing solution for single moms, currently in our program, who find themselves with this type of need. In May of 2018, we held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for our first triplex and miraculously also broke ground for the second triplex! God is doing exciting things!
