“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
John 3:16, NAS
It was a difficult delivery; my wife had planned to go “natural.” After many hours, the doctor came into the room and said the only thing to do was a C-section. Being first-time parents, we were clueless. We agreed to the procedure and soon we were looking into the blue eyes of our beautiful daughter. This was utterly amazing, I wondered if anyone else in the world had ever experienced this feeling, the wow of it all. I was a dad!!!
My wife needed to rest and so I took the baby. As I held our precious Lucy, I began to understand what it meant that the Lord gave His Son for me and the emotions began to overtake me. For the first time I felt like I could appreciate, to some degree, the incredible love that God has for me. I knew that there was absolutely nothing that would have taken that baby out of my arms. And so I began to thank God for His amazing gift… Jesus!
It is almost Christmas, what are your plans? As you prepare for the holiday of gift giving, do not forget that the Lord gave the greatest gift of all. Plan now to make Christmas a time of worship first. It is more blessed to glorify the Lord than to do anything else. Can you believe it; He gave His only Son for you and for me.
I hope that this Christmas will be the best ever. At Christmas we are reminded of the blessed hope we have in Jesus. He holds the future in His hands and He holds us in His hands. Do you believe in Him? Do you have eternal life? Are you living like it, while God leaves you here? Merry Christmas.
QUESTION: What is one different tradition that you will begin this year at Christmas to acknowledge the loving sacrifice of Jesus? How will you seek to lead others to glorify the Lord during this Christmas season?
